After seven months without a competitive game, Stockport County kick off the new National League season with the long trip down to Torquay on Saturday. We’re a little bit sad here at The Viaduct, because we should already be on a train down to the English Riviera for a good old County seaside weekend in Devon. But that’s not to be just yet. However, we’re still looking forward to the new season, and we’re continuing to interview fans of all the teams County will be facing over the next eight months or so. Today, we catch up with Halifax supporter Alex Tepielow.
What are your thoughts on Stockport County?
Most Halifax fans have still not got over the amount of abuse thrown at the club as we wouldn’t give County Jamie Vardy.
Best moment of last season?
Beating AFC Fylde 4-1 at home with Jerome Binnon-Williams’ thunderbolt.
Worst moment of last season?
Losing 1-0 to Halesowen at home in the FA Trophy.
Covid stopping the season early. Good or bad for your club?
Neither. We were in poor form so it kept us in the play-offs, however it killed the season.
If restrictions have been lifted, what indoor places should County fans check out in Halifax?
The Dean Clough Mill complex – shops, galleries and food and drink.
And if restrictions haven’t been lifted, how about outside places?
The Piece Hall. Bit of something for everyone there.
Which team do you most want to beat this season?
Man United in the FA Cup final.
Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
About 6th-8th, with the season possibly scrapped in the new year.
And here’s a few other bits and bobs we’ve added ourselves…..
Last time at County: A thumping 5-1 win on Boxing Day last season, featuring an Elliot Osborne hat-trick.
Last time at Halifax: 0-0 on the very first day of 2020.
Where is Halifax? West Yorkshire. Just over those big hills.
How do County fans get there, if they’re allowed? Jump in the car, or on the coach. It’s a nice little scenic drive. And you get to go past that weird house in the middle of the M62.
What’s the latest Halifax news? (Well, the thing that came up most recently when we Googled ‘Halifax’) The local MP for Halifax isn’t happy over something to do with Nestle and KitKats.
When are County due to play Halifax? It’s the first home game at the new-look Edgeley Park (I think we can class new cladding and a load of Vita advertising as ‘new-look’) on Tuesday night, before we head to The Shay on the Bank Holiday weekend in May.
