Wealdstone 2-5 Stockport County – The Morning After

Don’t say this too loudly. In fact, whisper it for now. But Stockport County could be starting to mount a serious promotion challenge this season. Top scorers in the National League, County are now just one point behind leaders Hartlepool following Tuesday night’s 5-2 victory in London. The Viaduct looks back at last night’s seven goal thriller by speaking to County fan Matt Stambach, and Wealdstone fan Mike Renny. Photo courtesy of Mike Petch. Yesterday’s match in one word:Matt – Comeback!Mike – Sobering. Pre-match thoughts:Matt – A long away day on a Tuesday can always be tough, but with the

The Big Preview – Hartlepool United

After seven months without a competitive game, Stockport County kick off the new National League season with the long trip down to Torquay on Saturday. We’re a little bit sad here at The Viaduct, because we should already be on a train down to the English Riviera for a good old County seaside weekend in Devon. But that’s not to be just yet. However, we’re still looking forward to the new season, and we’re continuing to interview fans of all the teams County will be facing over the next eight months or so. Jack Twydale is next up, who follows

The new National League season starting in October. Still can’t quite get our heads around it. But that’s what’s happening. Well, for now anyway. The Big Preview – Bromley

To be honest, we don’t know why we’re bothering doing a big preview to the new National League season, in which Stockport County have a realistic chance of ending their decade in the non-league wilderness, and returning to the Football League. It is meant to start on October 3rd. But that will probably be delayed until next February, or 2026 or something. Either that, or football will be completely cancelled, with results decided by online games of noughts and crosses. Until then, however, we crack on as normal. We’ve spoken to fans of all the teams County will be facing
