Matt Stambach, 33, lives in Reddish and works as a Private Client Tax Manager. Born at Stepping Hill, he has lived in Stockport his whole life, apart from a two-year hiatus in central Cheshire.
Favourite Stockport pub? The Griffin in Heald Green.
Favourite Stockport restaurant? The Blue Nile in Hazel Grove.
Favourite Stockport shop? The Stockport County club shop!
Best thing about Stockport? Edgeley Park.
Funniest thing you’ve ever seen in Stockport? Saw a car come out of a car park on a frosty day, slide across the road, hit the curb and very slowly roll over. The driver was fine and furious which made it even more funny!
Describe a perfect Stockport day? Play football in the morning in Gatley. Drive to Edgeley for a chippy, a couple of pints and then over to Edgeley Park for the match. Then go home and have a chilled night in with t’other half.
What’s your thoughts on Stockport Council? I must admit I don’t know a huge amount about the council. All I can say is I was grateful to them for purchasing Edgeley Park to help with the survival of Stockport County.
What do you make of public transport in Stockport? Not as great as it could be. I live in Reddish and apart from the bus there is no other way to get into Stockport.
What do you miss about Stockport that’s no longer here? As a kid I used to love going to Grand Central but that has now been replaced by Parrs Wood and the Light (which might I add is a fantastic cinema!).
What’s your earliest Stockport memory? I remember my mum used to take my brother James and I shopping in Merseyway when we were very young.
Favourite Stockport moment? Stockport County playing Curzon Ashton at home in their title-winning season…..tingles!
And here’s a few of Matt’s favourite things to finish…..
TV Show: Game Of Thrones
Band: The Courteeners
Album: Hybrid Theory, Linkin Park
Holiday: New York
