A Tribute To Bredbury Hall

Checking into the hotel on a Saturday night, picking up your room card and having a chat with the friendly members of staff who all know you as a regular. Cheeky bottle of vodka in your room with your mates, with a few 80s or 90s bangers playing to accompany your shit, shower and shave. Heading down to the residents’ bar for a couple of drinks, and always chuckling at the mix of Stockport locals and stags and hens from across the UK descending on this weird and wonderful place in Bredbury. Sticking on your wristband and heading down the

My Stockport: Kate O’Brien

Kate O’Brien, 38, works as an artist, with her own shop and studio in Stockport’s historic Market Hall. She was born in Nottingham, raised in Whaley Bridge, and moved to Stockport around ten years ago. Favourite Stockport pub? It depends on what mood I’m in really, and there are so many good ones now, especially around the market place. Last time I ventured out I really enjoyed the cocktails at The Good Rebel; the Espresso Martinis are particularly awesome! I can’t really see any need to venture into Manchester anymore with places like this on the doorstep. Favourite Stockport restaurant?

Visiting all 250 pubs in Stockport

Simply reading the title of this article might be enough to give you a hangover. But Cheadle Hulme resident Richard Gottfried didn’t feel too rough after paying a visit to all 250 pubs, bars and clubs in Stockport. In fact, he felt as fresh as a daisy. Because he didn’t touch a drop of alcohol. Well, he wasn’t allowed to, as he completed this quirky challenge during this year’s lockdown, when all licensed premises were closed for a few months. The Viaduct loves interesting stories such as this one, so we caught up with Richard to tell us more about

Is Banksy really Neil Buchanan from Art Attack?Wouldn’t that be hilarious?! Seriously though, some of the ‘Big Attacks’ Neil did were awesome, so you never know! You were brought up in Derbyshire. That must have been a nice scenic place to live for an aspiring artist?Definitely! I used

After seven months without a competitive game, Stockport County kick off the new National League season with the long trip down to Torquay on Saturday. We’re a little bit sad here at The Viaduct, because we should already be on a train down to the English Riviera for a good old County seaside weekend in Devon. But that’s not to be just yet. However, we’re still looking forward to the new season, and we’re continuing to interview fans of all the teams County will be facing over the next eight months or so.
